University of Florida Admission to PaCE

If you’ve received a UF offer of admission into the PaCE program, you have the opportunity to join a unique hybrid undergraduate experience at one of the top-ranked universities in the US.

Pathway to Campus Enrollment (PaCE) is a highly selective and flexible pathway that allows you to start your University of Florida degree fully online and finish it residentially, on campus. Your first segment of UF enrollment will be completed through UF Online, meaning your courses will be online until you meet the “transition requirements” for your specific major and can start taking classes on UF’s main campus.

UF is proud of this program that expands access to a larger freshman class, supporting Gators via UF Online while providing greater freedom of movement and more affordable tuition and fees.

This page includes information, resources, and support to help you learn about the PaCE program and connect with UF teams who can answer your questions. Be sure to check out the PaCE program overview page, too!

If I hadn’t been accepted through PaCE, I probably would not have had the internal drive to get as involved in college as I did. If I did not do that, I would not have made the friends that I made. And those people have been my support system.

– Audrey Weigel (2024), UF PaCE student

PaCE 101: The Basics

Taking online courses – PaCE students begin in UF Online

We know you might be nervous about UF Online learning at first, but we see over and over again that PaCE students quickly find the flexibility of classes to be an unexpected benefit. This is because online learning at UF provides the same professors teaching and the same rigorous course quality and student learning. Check out the PaCE program overview to see what it is like to take courses in UF Online, and discover why our programs are continually top-ranked in the nation.

Did you know? Many first time UF students will be taking online courses even with a residential admission, because of the high demand for lower division general education courses.

During your UF Online segment, you’ll pay less tuition and fees per course. UF Online courses cost around 40% of the usual tuition and fees compared to residential courses, thanks to the State of Florida’s support.

Co-curricular and experiential opportunities – Get involved

PaCE students are eligible and encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities as any other UF student would. This includes study abroad, honors, internships, undergraduate research, band, Greek life, clubs, organizations, student government, and more! The UF Online Plaza is a great way to stay connected with your peers and happenings in Gainesville and elsewhere.

Transitioning to campus – PaCE students who are ready to shift to residential study

The baseline requirements you’ll need to meet in order to transition to campus are:

  • earning 60 credit hours,
  • taking at least 15 credits of UF Online coursework (total),
  • enrolling in UF Online for two semesters (not including Summer),
  • meeting major-specific transition requirements, and
  • having a 2.0 UF GPA or higher.

Graduating as a PaCE student – We are all Gators here

All undergraduate students at the University of Florida earn the same quality and caliber of degree. There is no difference on the transcript or diploma between a PaCE, UF Online, Innovation Academy, residential, or any other type of unique UF student pathway.

A PaCE student’s story: celebrating student body President Cooper Brown’s path

No Limits to What Gators Can AccomplishUF Online Student Cooper Brown

Excitement, nervousness, and anticipation are just a few of the emotions that first-year applicants experience on the University of Florida’s annual decision day. On that big day, UF’s newest Gators find out if they’ve been admitted to the University. New Gators join the Gator Nation via several admissions programs, a hallmark of UF’s inclusive undergraduate program that matches applicants with pathways of UF academic opportunity. These successful and innovative pathways are also some of the most unique and award-winning programs in the nation for students.

One pathway that can only be found at UF is the Pathway to Campus Enrollment (PaCE), the nation’s only blended learning undergraduate pathway program. Launched in 2015, PaCE increases opportunities for new Gators by combining UF’s top-ranked online learning with residential classrooms for just over 50 UF majors. PaCE Gators enjoy greater freedom of movement and lower costs during their first two years in the nation’s #1 online bachelors program, UF Online, and are later guaranteed enrollment in UF’s residential campus classrooms where classes are smaller as they complete their major-specific and upper-division course requirements.

When Cooper Brown received his letter of “congratulations” on decision day, he first needed a better understanding of what PaCE was and how it worked before making the best decision for himself. But Cooper is so glad he did it. After completing his UF classes online, transitioning to UF residential classes, and even becoming the student body president and a Gator grad, 23-year-old Cooper Brown couldn’t be happier with his decision to accept his PaCE offer. “Now that I’m finished, it’s the best decision that I have ever made in my life,” Cooper affirmed.

Due to space limitations, PaCE students cannot live on campus in UF residence halls prior to transitioning
to campus.

One of the great benefits of PaCE is the mobility and flexibility available with online learning. Students may choose to stay home for part or all of their PaCE experience or explore other living arrangements. Although PaCE students are not eligible to apply for on-campus housing in the dormitories, students who wish to live in Gainesville and access the main campus are encouraged to do so.

PaCE students often find apartments off campus and use roommate matching to live with other UF students, including fellow PaCE students. UF’s Off-Campus Life team is a great resource for finding housing arrangements that fit your needs.

While the Optional Fee Package provides full access to many campus amenities, the support services listed below are available to ALL UF students regardless of their optional fee package status.
