UF cancels classes, closes offices Wednesday – Thursday

Due to Hurricane Milton, UF will close its offices and cancel classes on Wednesday and Thursday.

Your goals and needs are unique to you, but your journey shares similarities with your fellow students! Here are some tips that can help you find the path to your own individual success, as a University of Florida student.

Be your best learner self

  • Know your advisor and build a strong relationship with them – your success is their goal! 
  • Register for classes on time (or early) to secure your spot and avoid late fees. Don’t forget to clear those holds.
  • Learn what study habits work best for you and set aside time in your schedule to complete coursework.
  • Communicate regularly with your instructors, especially if you are struggling. Faculty care!
  • Take advantage of experiential learning, research opportunities, internships, bootcamps, presentations, conferences, and other in-person activities for hands-on learning whenever you can.

Make connections

  • Visit the UF Online Plaza and get acquainted with your peers!
  • Join us for annual UF Online events in Gainesville and online.
  • Get involved with a student organization that interests you.
  • Form a study group in class or outside of class.
  • Become a UF Online Student Ambassador.

Manage your finances

  • Complete your FAFSA every year to ensure you receive financial aid that you may be eligible for.
  • Consult with the UF Online OneStop about tuition and fee payments.
  • Seek scholarships within your program or through external funding sources.
  • Check the UF Jobs website for remote student assistant or undergraduate research positions.
  • If you are experiencing a financial hardship, let your advisor know. There are supports available to you.

Know your supports

  • All UF students receive a wide variety of supports ranging from basics like library access and career planning to specialized resources for veterans and students with children. Check out the lists below!
  • Visit the UF Online Plaza for peer-to-peer support and other timely resources.

Share your voice

  • Be active in the UF Online Plaza – ask for what you need and we will do our best to deliver.
  • Respond to the UF Online Student Experience surveys and polls to give feedback on how things are going for you and what we can do to support you.
  • Complete GatorEvals (instructor evaluations) and mid-course surveys every semester in every course. Your voice matters!
  • Join the Student Advisory Group to play a role in shaping the supports and programs for UF Online students.
