Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to administer and manage commercial and entrepreneurial event service. This program includes courses in conference and special event planning, promotion, sponsorship, financial and revenue management, and production.

Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to administer and manage destination management organizations, tour operations, public recreation, and hospitality enterprises such as hotels, resorts, attractions, and cruises. This program includes courses in tourism and hospitality marketing, strategic planning and development, lodging operations, and revenue management.

Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a wide array of sectors related to the tourism, hospitality, and event management. This provides an opportunity to select courses within the department to develop broad content knowledge.

Admissions Requirements

Upper division transfer applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor’s degree seeking applicants should have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and completed the following 3 courses with at least a 2.0 pre-professional GPA:

*One of the following

  • Introductory Sociology (SYG 2000)
  • General Psychology (PSY 2012)
  • Developmental Psychology (DEP 3053)
  • Human Growth and Development (EDF 3110)

*One of the following

  • Macroeconomics (ECO 2013)
  • Microeconomics (ECO 2023)

*One of the following

  • Public Speaking (SPC 2608)
  • Effective Oral Communications (AEC 3030)

*Note:

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
  • Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.

Additional UF Online Admissions Pathways

Upper-division applicants with 60 or more transferrable college credits may be considered for conditional admission if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have completed Macroeconomics (ECO 2013) OR Microeconomics (ECO 2023)
  • Have completed Public Speaking (SPC 2608) OR Effective Oral Communications (AEC 3030)
  • Have a 2.0 GPA overall and a 2.0 pre-professional GPA
