Admissions Requirements

  • If you have 0-11 transferable college credits, review the Freshman admissions requirements.
  • If you have 12-59 transferable credits, review the Lower Division Transfer admission requirements. In addition to meeting these general requirements, lower division transfer applicants to the Computer Science program should have at least a 2.5 overall GPA and have satisfactorily completed Analytic Geometry and Calculus 1 (MAC 2311) with a grade of C or better.

Upper division transfer applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor’s degree seeking applicants should have at least a 2.5 overall GPA and have completed the below courses with at least a 2.5 GPA. Prospective applicants are also strongly encouraged to complete Physics 2 w/lab (PHY2054 and PHY 2054L) or Physics with Calculus 2 w/lab (PHY 2049 and PHY 2049L) to avoid splitting the sequence prior to enrollment at the University of Florida.

  • Analytic Geometry and Calculus 1 (MAC 2311)
  • Analytic Geometry and Calculus 2 (MAC 2312)
  • Analytic Geometry and Calculus 3 (MAC 2313)
  • Physics 1 w/lab (PHY 2053 and PHY 2053L) or Physics with Calculus 1 w/ lab (PHY 2048 and PHY 2048L).

*Note:

  • MAC 1147 will be considered a prerequisite course, if attempted.
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
  • Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.
