UF’s online degree in Fire and Emergency Services (FES) is designed for emergency services professionals who desire an increase in managerial responsibility and leadership skills. Our FES program is unique in that it offers a combination of Fire Science, EMS and Emergency Management courses designed to meet your professional aspirations.

Students majoring in our Fire & Emergency Services degree can choose one of the following three specializations:
For students who wish to work in the fire service or a fire related career. The program focuses on the area of fire science.
For students seeking careers in managing an EMS system, working in a governing agency for EMS, or management and leadership positions for the hospital environment.
For students seeking careers in emergency management in the public or private sector.

Admissions Requirements
- If you have 0-11 transferable college credits, review the Freshman admissions requirements.
- If you have 12-59 transferable credits, review the Lower Division Transfer admission requirements.
Note: The Fire Specialization only admits upper division transfer applicants. Freshmen and lower division transfer applicants may apply to the EMS and Emergency Management specializations only.
Upper division transfer applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor’s degree seeking applicants should meet the following criteria for admission to each specialization (Fire Specialization, EMS Specialization, and Emergency Management Specialization):
- Must have 2.3 overall GPA.
- Needs 60 transferable credits to qualify, but AA not required.
- Must have certification, internship experience, or elective courses in area of interest or relevant professional experience
Available specializations for Upper Division Transfer applicants:
- Fire Specialization
- EMS Specialization
- Emergency Management Specialization
*Note:
- All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
- Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
- Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
- Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.
**Applicants to all specializations can transfer in a maximum of 18 credits of Fire and Emergency service electives from prior industry specific programs.
Tuition Rate for Non-Florida Residents
