The UF Online Bachelor of Science in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management provides students with a well-rounded curriculum preparing them to move into any aspect of service industry management.

The tourism industry has a continued need to recruit highly qualified employees to manage teams and create excellent experiences. With 1 billion people traveling annually, tourism is the largest and fastest growing industry in the world. This comprehensive degree prepares students to join a field that ranks among the top three largest employers in 29 U.S. states.

What are the admissions requirements for a Tourism, Hospitality, & Event Management major??

Freshmen & Lower Division Transfer Applicants

Upper Division & Second Bachelor's Transfer Applicants

Upper division transfer applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor's degree seeking applicants should have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and completed the following 3 courses with at least a 2.0 pre-professional GPA:

*One of the following

  • Introductory Sociology (SYG 2000)
  • General Psychology (PSY 2012)
  • Developmental Psychology (DEP 3053)
  • Human Growth and Development (EDF 3110)

*One of the following

  • Macroeconomics (ECO 2013)
  • Microeconomics (ECO 2023)

*One of the following

  • Public Speaking (SPC 2608)
  • Effective Oral Communications (AEC 3030)

*Note:

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
  • Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.

Additional UF Online Admissions Pathways

Conditional Admission

    Upper-division applicants with 60 or more transferrable college credits may be considered for conditional admission if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have completed Macroeconomics (ECO 2013) OR Microeconomics (ECO 2023)
  • Have completed Public Speaking (SPC 2608) OR Effective Oral Communications (AEC 3030)
  • Have a 2.0 GPA overall and a 2.0 pre-professional GPA

UF Online Ready

    This major participates in the UF Online Ready program, which allows a limited number of qualified applicants to complete specific missing prerequisites here in UF Online as degree-seeking students before enrolling in other UF Online courses. Admission is offered on a space-available basis.

    A student may be selected for UF Online Ready if they have:

  • Completed Macroeconomics (ECO 2013) OR Microeconomics (ECO 2023)
  • A 2.0 GPA overall and a 2.0 pre-professional GPA
