Will My Credits Transfer?

The online BADAS degree crosses traditional college boundaries between arts, communications, and technology. The emergent field of Digital Arts & Sciences is ideal for students whose intellectual and creative energies are not confined by traditional academic disciplines. BADAS students will immerse themselves in every aspect of the new and developing digital landscape – from design and production to animation, from programming to game design.

The BADAS degree provides graduates with applicable technical, creative, and critical-thinking skills that are highly prized by employers in the entertainment, communications, and technology sectors, and are central to the Digital Worlds Institute BADAS curriculum. Students will gain experience working in project-based classes in team-oriented environments, reflecting the dynamic of many industry settings.

Note on the application process:

Freshman applicants (0-11 credits) and Lower Division transfer applicants (12-59 credits): You must complete all general education requirements and prerequisites prior to starting upper division coursework. Upper division coursework begins every Fall and you will be required to submit a portfolio to the Digital Worlds Institute prior to beginning the Fall semester.

Upper Division Transfer (60+ credits) Applicants: Transfer admission to UF Online’s Digital Arts & Sciences program is offered every Fall and requires a portfolio submission. After submitting the UF Online application to the UF Office of Admissions, you should then submit your portfolio for Departmental review. All materials for the UF Online Application and the portfolio must be submitted prior to the File Completion Deadline.

What are the admissions requirements for this digital arts major?

Freshmen & Lower Division Transfer Applicants

After submitting the UF Online application to the UF Office of Admissions, you should then submit your portfolio for Departmental review. Upper division applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) should have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and have completed the below 12 credits with at least a 2.5 GPA:

  • ARH2000 – Art Appreciation
  • ARH2050 – Art History 1
  • ARH2051 – Art History 2
  • MAC1140 – Precalculus Algebra

Successful completion of additional courses in the following areas may increase competitiveness:

  • Art Appreciation/History (ARH)
  • Visual Design and Studio Art (ART)
  • Computer Literacy/Programming (CAP, CGS, COP)
  • Digital Design and Media (DIG)
  • Calculus 1 (or higher)

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
  • Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.
