Why a Sport Management Degree?

The UF Online Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree program equips students with the tools to apply the fundamental concepts of management, marketing, finance and law to sports organizations.

Students go on to pursue careers in a variety of organizations, from professional sport franchise and intercollegiate athletic departments to sports media companies and sport organizing committees. Within these organizations, students get involved in a range of job functions such as facility and event management, marketing, administration, compliance, ticket operations, sponsorship sales, fundraising and player representation.

In addition to completing all university, college and general degree requirements, students enrolled in the sports management degree program will have the opportunity to pursue core courses, including Sport and Society, Sport Facility Design and Management, Sport Marketing, Business Finance and an internship in Sport Management, along with several elective courses such as The Legal Environment of Business and Entrepreneurship.

What is the Internship Requirement?

Prior to graduation, all TRSM majors are required to complete a 15-credit hour, full-time internship experience. Internship experiences must be a minimum of 40 hours per week completed during the final UF semester. All required coursework must be completed prior to the internship.

What are the criteria for competitive transfer applicants?

Transfer students will need to have at least these tracking courses completed (with a 2.2 GPA and no grade below “C”) prior to being considered:

  • ECO 2013 (Principles of Macroeconomics) or ECO 2023 (Principles of Microeconomics)
  • MAC 1105 (Basic College Algebra) or higher
  • STA 2023 (Introduction to Statistics)

The following four courses must be completed by the end of the second semester you are enrolled in UF Online:

  • ACG 2021 (Introduction to Financial Accounting)
  • PSY 2012 (General Psychology)
  • SPC 2608 (Introduction to Public Speaking)
  • CGS XXXX or EME 2040 (Introduction to Educational Technology)
