Will My Credits Transfer?

The UF Online Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree program equips students with the tools to apply the fundamental concepts of management, marketing, finance, and law to sports organizations.

Students go on to pursue careers in a variety of organizations like professional sport franchises, intercollegiate athletics, sports media, municipal recreation, sports committees, private organizations, social organizations and amateur sports. Within these organizations, students get involved in a range of job functions such as facility and event management, marketing, administration, compliance, ticket operations, sponsorship sales, fundraising, and player representation.

Students enrolled in the Sport Management degree program will have the opportunity to take core courses, including Social Issues in Sport, Sport Operations and Facility Design and Management, Sport Marketing along with several elective courses such as The Legal Environment of Business and Entrepreneurship. Students will culminate this degree with a part-time or full-time internship during their last semester or opt for the non-internship option.

What are the admissions requirements for this major?

Freshmen & Lower Division Transfer Applicants

Upper Division & Second Bachelor's Transfer Applicants

Upper division transfer applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor's degree seeking applicants should have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and have completed the following 5 prerequisite courses below with at least a 2.2 GPA:

  • Macroeconomics (ECO 2013) OR Microeconomics (ECO 2023)
  • Financial Accounting (ACG 2021)
  • General Psychology (PSY 2012)
  • Statistics (STA 2023)
  • College Algebra (MAC 1105) or higher

*Note:

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in prerequisite courses may lower competitiveness.
  • Unsuccessful attempts in additional courses in the desired major may lower competitiveness.
  • Out of state courses used to meet prerequisites may need to be evaluated by the appropriate department upon admission.

**Prior to graduation, all Sport Management majors must complete a 12 credit hour internship or opt for the non-internship option. The 12 credit internship is an approved 12-week internship required upon completion of all coursework. Students who opt for the non-internship option can replace the 12 credit internship with 12 credits of pre-approved sport management courses. The non-internship option must be declared prior to the completion of semester five. Upon admission to the program, students should consult the internship coordinator or academic advisor for more information.

Additional Admissions Pathways

Conditional Admission

    Applicants may be conditionally admitted to the program if they have an overall 2.0 GPA and have completed 4 of the 5 required prerequisites (including Macroeconomics [ECO 2013] or Microeconomics [ECO 2023] and Financial Accounting [ACG 2021]) with a minimum 2.2 GPA in these courses. Applicants may complete the missing prerequisites with major coursework. Those who are conditionally admitted to the program are required to satisfactorily complete the missing prerequisite in their first term.

UF Online Ready

    This major participates in the UF Online Ready program, which allows a limited number of qualified applicants to complete specific missing prerequisites here in UF Online as degree-seeking students before enrolling in other UF Online courses. Admission is offered on a space-available basis.

    A student may be selected for UF Online Ready if they have:

  • Completed Microeconomics (ECO 2023) or Macroeconomics (ECO 2013) and Financial Accounting (ACG 2021).
  • 2.0 overall GPA and 2.2 prerequisite GPA
